Walking Charlie this morning, I noticed a lot of the neighbors have already put out Halloween decorations. It’s not even October yet… seems early to me. I’m not complaining though… I’m really excited for Halloween this year. Chris and I are throwing a Halloween party. I’m having so much fun planning it. Halloween leaves a lot more room for creativity than New Years. Our New Years Eve party decor consisted of a “Happy New Year” banner. How original. I’m sure Martha could have come up with something better. Let’s check… yup.
Anyway, I want the vibe for this party to be elegantly spooky. No cheesy Halloween decorations. I’m challenging myself to be more creative than that! With the help of Martha, I think I can handle it. I have some great ideas already. I’ll be sure to post pictures of what I come up with as the party gets closer. So far, we only have 5 definites on the Facebook event… including Chris and myself. I’m not too concerned though… it’s still over a month off. Besides, we only had 7 RSVP yes to our New Year’s party and ended up having a huge turnout.
I made a playlist for the party already. (Can you tell I’m a little over-excited?) I put some obvious choices on it such as “Thriller” and “The Monster Mash” …
and of course “Werewolf Bar Mitzvah” by Tracy Jordan from 30Rock. I also put some more subtle]
choices on there as well….
1. Zombie – The Cranberries
2. Of Moons, Birds & Monsters – MGMT
3. White Demon Love Song – The Killers
4. Don’t Fear the Reaper – Blue Oyster Cult
5. Sympathy for the Devil – The Rolling Stones
6. Disturbia – Rhianna
7. Witchy Woman – The Eagles
8. Psycho Killer – The Talking Heads
9. Shadowplay – The Killers
10. Bad Moon Rising – Creedence Clearwater Revival
I threw in some funs ones like the themes from Ghostbusters and The Addams Family, as well as classical themes from Halloween, The Twighlight Zone, The X Files, etc. We might also put some horrow movies on low volume in the background. Possibly some Halloween episodes from 30Rock, The Office, It’s Always Sunny…, and such.
I found a cute knitting pattern on ravelry for little knit pumpkins. I started a few last night. They are filled with beans instead of batting, so I’ll need to swing by Shoprite before I can close them up. They knit up really quickly and use hardly any yarn. I’m planning to make a bunch by Halloween to scatter around the condo as decor.
All done! Charlie managed to run off with one while I was making the I-cord stems… he chewed a hole through the side of the pumpkin spilling lentils all over the rug. *sigh*
I sewed up the hole… I’m not redoing a seasonal decoration for my own personal use. So not worth it.
